Norquay Ski Day

The Scouts were out for a Ski day at Norquay and had a great time.  We arrived shortly after 10:30am and got ourselves setup and promptly set off onto the mountain to ski at the Mystic chair and area.  The kids zipped around in a group and were seen at various points throughout the day.

Rampart Creek Hostel Trip

Rampart Creek Outlook ViewThe scouts were out in January for a hostel trip out to Rampart Creek Hostel.  On the way out we stopped at Peyto Lake and walked up to the lookout and played around looking for opportunities for emergency shelters and talking through winter survival techniques.  The Scouts had a great time exploring digging through the snow and scurrying under trees.

After that we headed out to the lookout and admired the view for a couple minutes before taking the lower trail back to the parking lot.  A quick race across a clearing in the deep snow and we were off to the hostel.

Welcome back Beavers

A big welcome back to the Beavers after the Holiday break.
We have a fun, action packed Schedule set for the rest of the year. Can't wait for all the fun!!!

Fire hall visit

The Beavers would like to thank the District 5 Fire Hall for allowing us to come out and experience the life and times of a Calgary Fire Fighter. From the wonderful talks about fire safety to actually getting to watch the men go out on a call, it was a memorable experience.

Lost Lake Ward Cabin Work Party

We are making a push to complete some critical elements on the Ward Cabin out at Lost Lake from October 25-30, 2015.  If you have some spare time and would like to come help out, please contact Alan Davidson at

The scouts had a good time this weekend talking to scouts from all over the world.  We started off with some conversations on the internet with some scouts from Somalia and proceeded to talk with scouts from Sri Lanka, Holland, Serbia, Australia, Texas as well as others.

After the JOTA and JOTI sessions we watched the Great Escape movie in memorium to the camp this year.  Thanks to Al for setting up and providing the equipment and mentoring them through the HAM radio components.  Also thanks to the Scouters that supported the event here in Calgary and the world over!

Lost Lake Ward Cabin Progresses

Another great work party last week... Shane Sbitney brought a metal brake, and folded and cut nearly 400 square feet of metal to form flashing and fascia on the cabin. Got a good start on installing soffits. Thanks to all who came out and helped!
