We are now half way through our ScoutStarts Tomato Plant Fundraiser, and as you can see they are coming along nicely.

Our other current fundraising initiative is Spolumbo's Sausages, so contact a scout near you today and order yours!

Lost Lake Ward Cabin Progresses

We're making good progress on the new Cabin at the Lost Lake Campsite. Last Work Party succeeded in installing the last of the logs... Next step roof tiles and windows. We will be doing some work on it this Thursday and Friday, and more very soon as the weather improves. (see photo) If you can come out and help, please contact Alan Davidson at 403 615-2399 or adavidson @

ScoutStarts - Tomato Plant Starts Fundraiser

The Scouts and Grow Calgary have teamed up to create a new program designed to first promote the youth's understanding of food supply and secondly to help the scouts raise the $9000 they need to go to summer camp this year. The scouts will be attending the Pacific Jamboree and some wilderness camping on Vancouver Island. Please Buy your Tomato Plants today and help the Scouts!

Quaite Valley Camp

We were supposed to snowshoe in to Quaite Valley with the Scouts to build snow shelters and do some serious winter camping.  Turns out with all the warm weather, that was not really an option as there was no snow.

However, in spite of the lack of sub-zero temperatures, we took tents and the rest of our gear and hiked up to the campground to find it dry and relatively warm for late winter.

Scout Camp Fundraiser - Simple Simon Pie Vouchers

The Scouts are gearing up their fundraising campaigns looking to raise $9000 in order to take 12 youth the summer camp.  As a part of this effort we have Simple Simon Pies for sale.  Having just sampled some of my first pies myself, I can safely say that they are great!

Lost Lake Cabin making good Progress

Another successful weekend building on the Cabin... Most of the roof rafters are in place, and the log wall on the lake side is almost completed. Next Sunday and Monday we hope to get the rest of the rafters up, and some plywood and roofing paper in place so the cabin is protected from the weather, and we can get the framing inspected. See attached photos. Coming out? Let Alan know, or just show up! See photo below, of cabin with it's temporary tarp.

Lost Lake Cabin Construction...progresses

Great work group this past four days, resulted in the roof beams all in place, and some of the roof joists installed. Burnt Timber Lifting Solutions brought out two Spyder cranes to help lift the beams in place. The 2nd Airdrie Ventures and 175th came out to assist, along with several 18th Leaders and alumnai. We put up a temporary tarp again to protect the building until the roofing is in place. Next construction weekend is Friday to Sunday October 24th to 26th. Let Alan know if you are coming and we'll put an extra bean in the pot for you. (403-615-2399)
